Viwit President Dr. Keene Wei Shares Global Innovation Strategy at Zaozhuang International Business Services Forum

On August 13, 2026, the Shandong Province “Foreign Affairs Services for Business — Easier International Travel” initiative (Zaozhuang stop) and the “Zaozhuang Goes Global” International Business Services Forum were held at Zaozhuang New Century Fengming Resort.
Hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Zaozhuang Municipal Committee, the event supported Zaozhuang’s “Year of Serving Enterprises” initiative. Sessions included policy briefings for internationally expanding companies, economic and trade exchange, international expansion experience sharing, and presentations on business support programs. The event was designed to expand channels, improve services, strengthen support, and help local companies develop international markets and global operating capabilities.
Dr. Keene Wei, Chairman and President of Viwit, attended as a representative of internationally active local enterprises. In the session on economic and trade exchange and international expansion, he delivered a presentation titled “Competing in Global Biopharma: Innovation-Driven, High-Quality International Growth,” sharing Viwit’s experience and perspectives on building global capabilities from a strong domestic foundation.
Innovation First — From Import Substitution to Frontier Technologies
Dr. Keene Wei emphasized that sustainable global growth in biopharma begins with strong, independent innovation capabilities. Rooted in Zaozhuang, Viwit has advanced along a stepwise innovation pathway from borane chemistry to APIs, finished dosage forms, and innovative medicines. The company initially broke foreign supply monopolies in key chiral reagents and enabled import substitution, then achieved technical advances in generic drugs and specialty APIs. Today, Viwit is expanding its innovative oncology pipeline in areas including radiopharmaceutical drug conjugates (RDCs) and CAR-T cell therapy, with certain RDC programs having entered clinical development. Dr. Wei noted that ownership of core technologies is essential to meaningful participation in global competition.
Compliance First — Aligning with Global Standards Across APIs and Finished Dosage Forms
Regulatory compliance is a critical threshold for global pharmaceutical expansion. Across manufacturing, quality systems, and regulatory submissions, Viwit aligns its operations with both China NMPA and U.S. FDA requirements and has completed multiple on-site inspections by domestic and international regulatory authorities. In finished dosage forms, multiple products have received U.S. approval and entered commercialization. VivaHearts® nitroglycerin sublingual tablets, including the differentiated 0.3 mg strength, have been approved in both China and the United States for emergency treatment of angina. Advanced contrast media products including gadoterate meglumine and gadobutrol have also received approvals in both markets. Viwit’s APIs, supported by stable processes and reliable quality, are supplied to markets including the United States, Europe, South Korea, and Russia.
Intellectual Property — Building Protection into Global Competition
“Intellectual property is an essential competitive safeguard in global business,” Dr. Keene Wei said. The company has filed 138 patent applications, with 50 patents granted in China, and has filed 22 overseas invention patent applications, eight of which have been granted. Its international patent footprint covers major markets and regions including the United States, Canada, the European Union, South Africa, South Korea, and Israel. Viwit’s approach is to establish patent protection alongside technology development to support secure global commercialization of innovation.
Leveraging Policy Platforms and Connecting with Global Resources
Dr. Keene Wei also highlighted the support provided by provincial and municipal government agencies for international business development. Shandong’s “Foreign Affairs Services for Business — Easier International Travel” initiative and Zaozhuang’s international expansion programs provide efficient channels for policy coordination and resource connectivity. By participating in overseas professional exhibitions and international industry forums, Viwit engages directly with customers and research institutions, promotes its technologies, and gains first-hand insight into market needs and industry requirements. These insights, in turn, inform R&D iteration and support a productive cycle of global engagement and capability development.
